Three days is where the Parliament tour becomes possible, because you can put it on a fixed slot and build the rest around it.

Days one and two

As in the two-day plan: the river and Castle Hill, then a bath and the City Park.

Day three — the booked thing

The Parliament is sold as a guided tour with a timed slot and there is no wander-in ticket. English-language slots go first, particularly in summer. Book before you fly, not on the morning.

⚠️ Tours do not run when the house is sitting, and that is not announced far ahead. Check on the day, and have a second plan.

The rest of day three

Pick one, by what is open:

Not a Saturday — the Dohany Street Synagogue, on a combined ticket that also covers the Jewish Museum, the memorial garden and the cemetery.
Not a Monday — a museum. The Museum of Fine Arts on Heroes’ Square for the international collection, the Hungarian National Gallery in the castle for Hungarian art.
Any day — Margaret Island, car-free and reached by a stair down from the tram stop in the middle of the bridge.
An evening — the Opera House. Upper seats and standing places cost less than a tour of the same room.

Fitting it together

Three days lets you put each closure on a day it does not matter. Work backwards from your Parliament slot, then place the synagogue away from Saturday and the museums away from Monday. Everything else here is outdoors and indifferent to the calendar.
